As an annual sponsor of FMI Connect 2015, it was an exciting forum – a collection of grocery retailers and technology vendors and food vendors. With the grocery retail market facing some massive challenges and opportunities, it was also a forum to learn about shifts in shopping patterns – what and why consumers buy.
The invaluable part of this experience was hearing directly from grocery retailers – looking to improve their current model, technologies to drive better pricing and promotions decisions but also how to tailor their model to drive better engagement and loyalty. This demonstrates that we’re moving in the right direction – putting the customer front and center at the shopping journey.
One of the highlights of this event was the Revionics-sponsored panel, Connecting Pricing Power with Profits and Customer Loyalty, featuring our very own customer Laura Roehl, vice president of Roundy’s Supermarkets, and Mark Kelso, former customer and now managing partner, Price Revolution. Noted as one of the best-attended sessions by FMI Connect, the panel highlighted how Roundy’s has shifted their strategy to improve price integrity and consistency and execute more data-driven decisions to drive sales and loyalty. The ability to effectively compete in today’s competitive market, the session demonstrated that winning retailers have to find a balance of marrying art and science to make intelligent and profitable pricing decisions. Another highlight of this event was Mark’s section of outlining key considerations before planning your pricing strategy.
Another memorable event was our customer dinner at one of the hottest spots in Chicago, Girl and the Goat on Tuesday evening. A truly exceptional dining experience paired with networking opportunity where retail executive peers shared price optimization war stories, best practices and strategies. The 13-course meal was a veritable sensory explosion and our guests agreed the occasion, co-hosted by our partner Neilsen, made for incredibly memorable evening. Cutting boards autographed by the restaurant’s renowned Executive Chef Stephanie Izard were the perfect memento.
Revionics also had great conversations with media covering the show, including reporters from Retail Leader, Frozen & Refrigerated Buyer, Progressive Grocer and RetailWire.
Thanks to everyone who came to the panel and who visited the Revionics booth. It was a great event and we’re already planning our participation for 2016!
